The Duggar family has had its world turned upside down by the
unfortunate miscarriage of Jubilee Shalom. Within the mists of the media
spectacle that started with the announcement of the miscarriage and
fueled by cousin Amy's release of photos of Jubilee, there are birthdays
to still be celebrated. The day before the miscarriage the smallest
Duggar, Josie, turned two and on Sunday Jordyn-Grace, the last Duggar
born before the grandkids began arriving, turns 3.
The family held a memorial service for Jubilee Shalom
on Wednesday and its likely Jordyn will celebrate her birthday in
typical Duggar fashion with family surrounding her. This is obviously a
joyous occasion for Michelle and Jim Bob after such a trying week.
Hopefully the thoughts of little Jubilee's early departure are set aside
while the family enjoys such a spunky and cute little girl.
Joyous
occasions can be hard on grieving families but the Duggar family seems
to have found a way to compartmentalize their grief so they can focus on
their joy. This was apparent with the Duggar parents' first interview
after they learned of the miscarriage. Jim Bob said that while they were
grieving the loss of the baby, they were celebrating Josie's second
birthday. Being so premature, a second birthday for Josie was a big
milestone. The Duggar family has three more birthdays
to celebrate before the month is out along with Christmas. Hopefully
the joyous events of the rest of the month will begin to take the focus
off December 11, 2011.
